Why We Practice Baptism

Why We Practice Baptism

On the first day of the church, people asked Peter and the Apostles what they must do to be saved. Peter told them that each one of them, and everyone in the future, should, “Repent and be baptized…in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of sins. And that they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-39).

3,000 people obeyed the teaching and were baptized on that day. Baptism is the point of identifying as a follower (or disciple) of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).

The first Christians did not have any church buildings or baptisteries so they used local pools around Jerusalem. Today at Living Creek, we have had baptisms in church buildings, swimming pools of our members, pools at local Hotels and even in Lake Michigan.
