Just One Thing! All of us have so many demands and distractions in life. In School we have multiple subjects to study, at home we have various demands, at work we have post-it notes stacked on top of more post-it notes. How do you focus on just one thing?
Churches can be distracted to run in many directions also. At Living Creek we want to dial in all of the needs, responsibilities and opportunities before us into one clear call for our church. Our desire is to focus on this one thing, helping people follow Jesus.
The last words Jesus spoke to his first followers commanded them to help more people follow Him. (Matthew 28:19-20) We continue to be faithful followers of Jesus today as we continue to encourage others to follow Him 2,000 years later.
The vision for Living Creek is to help one percent of the people living within 10 miles of Living Creek locations to follow Jesus. Jesus used the one percent figure in reference to the lost sheep. The shepherd left the 99 to go after the one lost sheep. “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15:7)
No church is the answer for 100 percent of the population. This includes Living Creek. Each church has its own unique culture and purpose. At Living Creek we desire to reach those whom God has called us to reach. One Percent doesn’t sound like much, but in reality it would be several times greater than the number of those who define Living Creek today.
